RESGEST has function in assisting the Gender Advisory Board of UNCSTD and focused its activities in the following areas:

• Identification of a national focal points in the region and to promote the establishment of strong National Committee on Gender Equity in Science and Technology in each country
• Promoting cooperation with the government representatives to recognize the gender dimension of national S&T policy
• Promoting regional cooperation in studies on the differential impact of the rapid progress of S&T and their application to development on women and men in variety of sectors affecting the majority of women, especially in low-income groups
• Promoting the data collection on women’s participation in S&T in the region
• Facilitating and promoting RESGEST networking and web-site for exchange information and experiences
